Zack and Brycen - Summer 07- Part 5 - Lancaster PA
The highlight of the trip for Geoff was seeing the trucks bringing the NASCAR cars for the Watkins Glen race roll into the parking lot at the Corning Glass Museum. Zack and Geoff got to go in Jamie McMurray's Crown Royal truck and see his car and uniform. AND just when Geoff thought his day couldn't be more perfect, in rolled Mark Martin's truck....Geoff's all time favourite driver.
At every campground we arrived at Zack would ask if they had mini-'GALF' as he calls it. I think we played it 3 out of the 6 days we were away!!!
Brycen and Daddy 'galfed' too!!!
Zack and Brycen got to decorate gingerbread men at a store in Intercourse. Brycen just wanted to eat and yell at anyone who tried to help him but Zack had a blast putting 6 eyes, 3 ears, 2 mouths and 10 buttons on his gingerbread man....I think he just really liked the icing!!!!
We went to a pretzel factory in Intercourse. We got to practise making a pretzel and learned how they twist, cook and package pretzels. Then we got to eat one...the best part of course!!!
We went for a buggy ride at Aaron and Jessica's buggy rides in Bird-in-Hand. It was a better view then we had had so far of the Amish country but we were both pretty disappointed in how commercialized life is in Lancasater County. The food, however, was amazing no matter where we ate!!!!
Zack wasn't too sure what to think at first. He's seen buggies in our area for years but didn't know what to do when he was this close. He also wanted to know why our amish driver had such a hairy face!!!!
Brycen LOVED the horses best of all and was so excited the whole time we were in the buggy.
We spent a day in Strasburg at the oldest running railway in the US. They have original steam engines that pull various cars from Stasburg to Paradise, all through Amish country and then back again.
We were in the coach class. It had bench seats that faced each other and wooden windows that were all open. Both boys were facinated by the train whistle.
Zack, lounging in the pool. He loved that this campground had a wadding pool and a little bit big pool....a really shallow end with steps that he could climb down.
